S&S Computing Software Updates

SewWhat-Pro:

3/11/23

v4.5.9 (031023)
   1. Fixed bug auto-selecting color in palette list if the same color was just previously clicked in thread list
   2. Enable drag-drop in thread pane WITHOUT holding down shift-key (although that still works)
   3. Improved reliability of drag-drop in thread pane
   4. Add thread color "icon" during drag-drop
   5. Fixed bug with using "default hoop" in file-open options setting
   6. Fixed "Next/Prev" buttons so they track pattern colors even when color stops have been deleted

3/5/23

v4.5.8 030523
A few changes to the thread-pane drag-and-drop (D&D) reordering feature were made that will hopefully make it more reliable and easier to use.

1.    It will work now by just holding downing the left mouse button (after selecting the color) and dragging. It is no longer necessary (but will still work) to hold down the shift key while dragging. This is more in conformance with the D&D feature in Windows.
2.    When the drag is initiated, an icon the color of the thread being dragged will appear at the lower right of the selection arrow and move with the dragged color stop.

This is still v4.5.8, but has today’s date 03/05/23 in the Help->About box. So users who want to “update” will need to uninstall and the reinstall from our website.

01/30/22
SewWhat-Pro was updated to v4.5.2, along with the associated manual. Here are the updates included in this newest version:
   1. Update density adjustment to be in percent

   7. Fix interior fill of Quilted Border resulting in "Unable to stitch auto-border" error (2-2-20)

1/29
We updated SWP (still v4.3.6) this morning to fix a bug with EmbLetters. The bug was (unintentionally) erasing alphabet mapping files entered when multiple saves of different alphabets were performed without closing the mapping editor between saves.

1/21
We added a Janome Hoop (RE38b, 200 X 360 mm) to SWP. The date in the About box is today’s.

12/15/19

I was looking at some Janome files and came across an issue. It is read correctly by SewWhat, but not by SWP (the colors are separated). Obviously something is wrong – will try to fix it this week.

The bug cited above (in SWP) has been fixed. It is available for download (with today’s date). [Version under Help/About SewWhat-Pro reads as "SewWhat-Pro Version 4.3.6 121519"]

11/22/19

SWP - border tool

We added a “Thread” (color) button to the Border tool, so users can choose a different border color now (previously, black was the default).

The date in the “About” box is 11/21/19.

10-28-19

I updated SA/SWP today so the Restore Defaults option (in Help) only removes the offending “Workspace” key – the remaining USER-DEFINED settings will no longer be affected.

10-21-19
We just updated SWP to v4.3.6. Here are the changes:

   2. Fix Open file dialog to accept user typed File name

SewArt:
3/7/22
v2.0.8 (030722)

3. Add timer to auto-sew mode
4. Remove tool tip pop-ups from color stops in merge mode

2/17/22
v2.0.7
There was a problem with computing a seed point for border and centerline outlines. This could cause stray lines to be erroneously stitched. Also, the center and border outline buttons were reversed (and are now fixed).

2/2/22
v2.0.6
It extends the image rotation feature to include 90/180/270 or arbitrary (user-specified) angles.
In the past, clicking the rotation icon only rotated by 90-degrees each time. Now, it opens a pop-up menu with the 4 choices above.

9/24/21
v2.0.5 (092421)
1. Improve satin/bean outline stitches
2. Add lock stitches to outlines
3. Start outline stitches at clicked point

2/19

1/30 - SA update (v1.9.8) (01-30-20)
We made a significant improvement (#9 below) to the V-Satin stitch editor in SewArt. Thanks to Debi Russo for being a diligent tester!
v1.9.8
1. Add "Variable Satin" (vsatin) stitch to the sewing dialog
2. restore "Thicken Tool" in the Pencil dialog
3. revamped "Shapes Tool" to render smoother shapes and added new shapes
4. Implemented "angle" rotation control in "Shapes Tool"  (11/27/19)
5. Fix bug with AutoSew Image (select all) - 12-17-19
6. Improve smoothness of Shapes (01-20-20)
7. Store last-used fill index as default
8. Fix "delete color" and "Clear Stitches" in Sewing mode, vsatin stitches
9. Improve V-Satin editor (enlarge markers, improve "Undo" function) - 1-30-20

1/21
I fixed a bug in SA with some of the Shapes (introduced in yesterday’s update). It is dated today.

1/20
We updated SA v1.9.8 (today’s date) with the following changes:

A.    Improve smoothness of Shapes (01-20-20)
B.    Store last-used fill index as default

The shapes entered from the “Shape” dialog now have smoother boundary contours at all sizes.
SewArt now “remembers” the last fill index and will use that as the default value the next time it is opened.

Users will need to uninstall/reinstall to implement these changes.

I made one further enhancement to SA – the “Delete Color” and “Clear Stitches” functions in the Sewing mode did not work properly for V-Satin stitches. They do now.

Updates 12/12 - 12/16

* There was a bug in SewArt that could cause a crash when the color stops were cleared, either by clicking “Clear All” in the Sew mode, or closing the pattern.
* There was a “minor”, yet irritating, bug in SA that was fixed. The “auto-sew” feature has two options – to sew ALL colors or to pick a so-called transparency color in the pattern which is NOT sewn during the autostitch process.
* The “Sew-All” did not work correctly in the recent releases of SA, due in part to having added new stitch types like the X-stitch and the V(ariable)-Satin stitch. Anyhow, it seems to be working now and I would appreciate hearing from anyone if there is still any problem in that regard.

The latest upgrade has today’s date on it - 12/16/19 [Version under Help/About SewArt reads as "SewArt Version 1.9.8 121619"].

12/3/19

I fixed a bug in SA that could cause the V-Satin stitch to crash. It is dated 12/3/19.

11-15-19

(11-13-19) We’ve made some improvements to the “Shapes” dialog in SewArt. In addition to adding many new shapes that users can enter (by clicking them), we improved the rendering of the shapes to make them smoother which yields higher quality stitching in SA.

10-28-19

I updated SA/SWP today so the Restore Defaults option (in Help) only removes the offending “Workspace” key – the remaining USER-DEFINED settings will no longer be affected.

10-2-19

We had a number of customers point out to us that some SVG files (rendered by Inkscape) were not opening properly in SewArt. After some code-sleuthing, we found the problem and fixed it in the current update that is on our website now. This also affected SewIconz and SewCat, so those were also updated.

  2. Implement Transparent paste so letters (for example) from Paint or Word can be pasted in OVER the existing image
  3. Fixed bug pasting from MS Word

SewWrite:

11/17/21
We added several new fonts to SewWrite. Since the program didn’t change, we did NOT update the version information. Therefore, users who wish to download the new fonts should UNINSTALL SewWrite and then REINSTALL from our website.

       2. fixed bug with some monogramming styles appearing after bezier/poly/diamond selection

       3. improve arc/poly/diamond shape dialog

We had a number of customers point out to us that some SVG files (rendered by Inkscape) were not opening properly in SewArt. After some code-sleuthing, we found the problem and fixed it in the current update that is on our website now. This also affected SewIconz and SewCat, so those were also updated.
