S&S Computing Software Updates

SewWhat-Pro:

12/15/19
I was looking at some Janome files and came across an issue. It is read correctly by SewWhat, but not by SWP (the colors are separated). Obviously something is wrong – will try to fix it this week.

The bug cited above (in SWP) has been fixed. It is available for download (with today’s date). [Version under Help/About SewWhat-Pro reads as "SewWhat-Pro Version 4.3.6 121519"]

11/22/19

SWP - border tool

We added a “Thread” (color) button to the Border tool, so users can choose a different border color now (previously, black was the default).

The date in the “About” box is 11/21/19.

10-28-19

I updated SA/SWP today so the Restore Defaults option (in Help) only removes the offending “Workspace” key – the remaining USER-DEFINED settings will no longer be affected.

10-21-19
We just updated SWP to v4.3.6. Here are the changes:

v4.3.6 (102119)

   1. Display "Zoom" initially in the status bar zoom pane (rather than % zoomed) – this was initially done in v4.3.5 and updated again

   2. Fix Open file dialog to accept user typed File name

9-28-19

We fixed a bug (v4.3.5, today’s date) in SWP that occurred for certain “exceptional” files that had color blocks with only 1 stitch in them.

SewArt:

Updates 12/12 - 12/16

* There was a bug in SewArt that could cause a crash when the color stops were cleared, either by clicking “Clear All” in the Sew mode, or closing the pattern.
* There was a “minor”, yet irritating, bug in SA that was fixed. The “auto-sew” feature has two options – to sew ALL colors or to pick a so-called transparency color in the pattern which is NOT sewn during the autostitch process.
* The “Sew-All” did not work correctly in the recent releases of SA, due in part to having added new stitch types like the X-stitch and the V(ariable)-Satin stitch. Anyhow, it seems to be working now and I would appreciate hearing from anyone if there is still any problem in that regard.

The latest upgrade has today’s date on it - 12/16/19 [Version under Help/About SewArt reads as "SewArt Version 1.9.8 121619"].

12/3/19

I fixed a bug in SA that could cause the V-Satin stitch to crash. It is dated 12/3/19.

11-15-19

(11-13-19) We’ve made some improvements to the “Shapes” dialog in SewArt. In addition to adding many new shapes that users can enter (by clicking them), we improved the rendering of the shapes to make them smoother which yields higher quality stitching in SA.

I updated SA/SWP today so the Restore Defaults option (in Help) only removes the offending “Workspace” key – the remaining USER-DEFINED settings will no longer be affected.

10-27-19

v1.9.8 (102419)

1. Add "Variable Satin" stitch to the sewing dialog

2. restore "Thicken Tool" in the Pencil dialog

10-24-19

Fixed the "Thicken Line" tool on the Pencil dialog of SewArt

10-17-19

We just released a major update for SewArt (v1.9.8). It includes a new variable-width satin fill stitch. The fill is “semi-automatic” and allows the user to enter the satin stitches through an easy-to-use (

10-2-19

We had a number of customers point out to us that some SVG files (rendered by Inkscape) were not opening properly in SewArt. After some code-sleuthing, we found the problem and fixed it in the current update that is on our website now. This also affected SewIconz and SewCat, so those were also updated.

9-25-19

I updated SewArt, v1.9.7, to include a few bug fixes:

  1. Implement Ctrl+Click selection in the Merge dialog, to select several colors at once to merge
  2. Implement Transparent paste so letters (for example) from Paint or Word can be pasted in OVER the existing image
  3. Fixed bug pasting from MS Word

SewWrite:

11-15-19

       1. v1.4.1

       2. fixed bug with some monogramming styles appearing after bezier/poly/diamond selection

       3. improve arc/poly/diamond shape dialog

       4. auto-erase selection state after monogram style applied

SewIconz:

10-25-19

We updated SewIconz to v1.8.9. The changes include:

  1. Fixed a bug in the preview pane when the Display Settings were set to something other than 100%.
  2. Added a new *.LCE (lace) file to the quilt file list
  3. Made some cosmetic improvements to the display in the preview pane (shadow at bottom fixed; pattern info doesn’t get cut off if the pane is enlarged)
